A Rare Case of Severe Aortic Regurgitation with Silent Ascending Aortic Dissection
Classically, ascending aortic dissection (AD) presents as sudden, severe chest pain that is tearing type and radiates to the back. Herein, we present a rare case of severe aortic regurgitation with silent ascending AD, which had no chest pain symptoms. The aortic valve apparatus probably masked this AD; therefore, it was not detected by echocardiography and during the surgery.
متن کاملPrognostic implications of mitral regurgitation in patients with severe aortic regurgitation.
BACKGROUND Mitral regurgitation (MR) is common in those with severe aortic regurgitation (AR) and can predispose to atrial fibrillation, heart failure, and a need for mitral valve surgery during aortic valve replacement (AVR). However, little data exist as to its clinical and prognostic implications. METHODS AND RESULTS Search of our echocardiographic data base between 1993 and 2007 yielded 7...
متن کاملAortic Dissection With Severe Aortic Regurgitation.
A 40-year-old woman had left meningioma with right-sided weakness after tumor resection 3 months previously. She had no history of hypertension. At this time, she was admitted for recurrent tumor and received local radiotherapy. After admission, her blood pressure was in the normal range. During her hospitalization, sudden-onset severe chest pain with cold sweating was noted. An ECG revealed ST...
متن کاملPrognostic Value of Aortic Valve Area by Doppler Echocardiography in Patients With Severe Asymptomatic Aortic Stenosis
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between aortic valve area (AVA) obtained by Doppler echocardiography and outcome in patients with severe asymptomatic aortic stenosis and to define a specific threshold of AVA for identifying asymptomatic patients at very high risk based on their clinical outcome. METHODS AND RESULTS We included 199 patients with asymptomatic s...
